June and July certainly did not come to play. From advocacy visits and digital transformation to professional examinations, new babies, birthdays, partnerships, and some difficult goodbyes, the two months gave us plenty to reflect on.
So, before August gets too busy, let’s take a quick walk through somethings that happened.
📅 JUNE ROUNDUP
🤝 Strengthening Stakeholder Relationships
The North-West Zonal Coordinator, Mallam Umar Sani, Kaduna Zonal Office, alongside the Kaduna State Chairman of AHRIMPN, paid a courtesy and advocacy visit to the office of the Honourable Commissioner, Kaduna State Ministry of Health.
The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships, discuss issues affecting the profession, and further promote collaboration within the health sector.
Good relationships, after all, make professional work much easier.
🏥 Taking Advocacy to the South-East
Members of staff, alongside the South-East Zonal Coordinator, Enugu, embarked on an advocacy and sensitization visit to the Enugu State Hospital Management Board.
The engagement focused on strengthening awareness of the Board’s mandate and promoting better understanding and collaboration around the Health Information Management profession.
Sometimes, you have to leave the office, carry your files, and go where the conversation is happening.
🌴 Lagos Engagement: Cadre Conversion, Examination Reforms & Professional Standards
The Registrar/CEO, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha, visited Lagos and engaged with Health Information Managers on important professional issues, including cadre conversion, examination reforms, and professional standards.
The Registrar was welcomed by the South-West HRORBN Coordinator, Mrs. Champion, members of the Armed Forces led by Colonel Busayo, members of SHIM LUTH led by Mrs. Adedeji, and students of SHIM LUTH.
It was an important engagement that brought together practitioners, stakeholders, and students around the future of the profession.
When the old and the new sit at the same table, everybody gets to see where the profession is coming from and where it is headed.
🛡️ HRORBN Inaugurates Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit
In a significant step towards strengthening institutional integrity, HRORBN inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Representatives of ICPC were present to formalize the initiative.
The move reaffirms the Board’s commitment to integrity, accountability, transparency, and good governance.
Because good governance should not only be written in policy documents; it should also be visible in how we work.
🪪 Operation Show Your Licence!
The HRORBN North-Central Zonal Office, Lokoja, embarked on a Familiarization Visit and “Operation Show Your Licence” exercise to Niger State.
The team, led by Mrs. Deborah Abang, visited healthcare facilities and Health Information Management training institutions across:
- Suleja
- Gwuada
- Minna
- Chanchaga
- Bida
The exercise was aimed at strengthening awareness, promoting compliance, and ensuring that practitioners and institutions operate within the appropriate professional framework.
In short: the licence should not be enjoying retirement inside your drawer. Bring it out and let it do its job.
💻 Digital Administration: Preparing Management for the Future
HRORBN continued its digital transformation journey with a training programme for management staff on digital administration and seamless digital processes.
The training was organized by Britek Computers in collaboration with the Board’s Human Resource Management Department.
The initiative supports the Federal Government’s e-governance and digital transformation agenda, while helping management staff adapt to increasingly digital administrative processes.
The message is simple: the future is digital, and it has already started knocking.
📚 Sokoto Liaison Office Engagement
On 18 June 2026, the Sokoto State Liaison Officer, Alhaji Aminu Salah Tauma, visited Khalifa College of Advanced Studies, Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The engagement formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen professional relationships and promote awareness around Health Information Management education and practice.
🎓 Baze University Partnership: A New Academic Possibility
A promising academic partnership conversation took place between HRORBN and Baze University regarding the establishment of a Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Health Information Management.
It was essentially a case of:
“We are interested.”
“We are interested too.”
“So… why not?”
The proposed collaboration could create new opportunities for academic advancement and professional development within Health Information Management.
📝 July Professional Licensing Examination Results Reviewed
The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of HRORBN, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha, alongside the representative of the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Damilola, other key stakeholders, and Top Management Staff of the Board, reviewed the results of the concluded July 2026 Board Professional Licensing Examination.
The review represents another important step in maintaining the integrity and quality of the professional licensing process.
For the candidates, this is the part where everybody suddenly becomes very interested in checking their phones.

💻 HR Portal Training: Building Digital Capacity
Following the digitization of public service operations, the Board organized a capacity-building training for Headquarters staff on the use of the HR Portal.
The training was held at the Trauma Centre, National Hospital, Abuja, and facilitated by Britek Computers ICT Consultants in collaboration with the Board’s ICT Unit.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring that staff are properly equipped to use the new digital HR systems efficiently.
New system, new skills, same staff… just with fewer reasons to say, “I don’t know how this thing works.”
🎓 North-West Academic Engagement
The North-West Zonal Coordinator, Mallam Umar Sani, and his entourage held a meeting with the Academic Board of the College of Health Sciences and Technology at the National Ear Care Centre, Kaduna.
The engagement further strengthened collaboration and dialogue around Health Information Management education and professional development.
Strong academic partnerships are essential to building professionals who can meet the demands of a changing healthcare environment.
🏥 Facility Inspection Continues in Obajana
As part of the ongoing sensitization and facility inspection exercise in the zone, a team of inspectors visited selected healthcare facilities in Obajana on 29 July 2026.
The facilities visited included:
- Fisayo Hospital
- LG Primary Healthcare Centre
- Live Gate Hospital
- Limestone Medical Clinic
- Shukurah Hospital
The exercise is part of the Board’s continued efforts to promote compliance, professional standards, and quality practice within the Health Information Management space.
The message remains simple: professionalism is not just about having the qualification; it is also about practising according to the standards.
🌟 LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD
June and July reminded us that the work of HRORBN extends far beyond the office.
There were advocacy visits, professional engagements, examinations, inspections, digital transformation, academic partnerships, capacity building, celebrations, new babies, and difficult moments of loss.
Through it all, the Board continued to move forward.
As we settle into the second half of the year, may we continue to embrace professionalism, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
