LEGAL DEPARTMENT

Introduction

The legal unit is one of the units directly answerable to the Registrar/CEO. The unit consists of professionals whose primary mandate is to offer legal services and cater for all the legal needs of the Board.

Preamble

The HRORBN Legal Department is the centre of integrity, expertise and dedication converge to safeguard the interests of and uphold the value of our Board.  As custodian of legal compliance and guardians of ethical conduct, we are committed to providing strategic counsel, meticulous guidance, and unwavering support to all facets of Board’s operations.

Our team of legal professionals is dedicated to staying abreast of legal developments, and provide innovative solution to complex legal issues. Through collaboration, transparency and steadfast commitment to excellence, we strive to foster a culture of legal compliance, ethical conduct and accountability across all levels of our Board.

Staff Strength of Legal Department

The legal department have two officers. The department is headed by an Assistant Chief Legal Officer assisted by an assistant Legal officer.

Functions;

  1. Proffering legal opinions to the board and its Zonal offices on issues arising and their implications.
  2. Watching brief for and against the board and its Zonal offices in cases pending in various courts across the federation.
  • Attending the Board’s tender Board and other statutory meetings.
  1. Liaison with the Federal Ministry of Justice, National Assembly and other Ministries in discharge of various services as the need arises.
  2. Drafting, vetting and negotiation of agreement such as contracts, MOUs, Bilateral and Multilateral Treaties, etc.
  3. Providing legal advice to various committees set up for adhoc purposes

Achievements;

  1. We proffered and we are still proffering legal opinion to the Board on many issues.
  2. We write MOU’s and legal drafting to many organisations on behalf of the Board.

Promotion

  1. One legal officer participated in the 2023 promotion exam and passed.

Training

  1. No any legal officer was sent to attend training within the period under review
