Preamble

The IT unit as a standing alone unit focus on collaboration, excellence and Board’s satisfaction, at all period we strive to deliver unparalleled support to all departments. Through pro-active problem-solving, continuous learning and a commitment to the best practices, we aim to exceed expectations through collaboration with the consultants handling the digitalization of our services ranging from linking indexing unit, licence, certification and exams/records. The Board will be proud to have us as the professionals manning the unit.

STAFF STRENGTH WITH QUALIFICATION AND RANK

We have four (4) staff

Functions of IT Unit:

  • Installation of hardware and software (PC maintenance)
  • Troubleshooting and repair or replacement of devices
  • Network and website management.
  • Creation of database and management
  • Advising the Board on the best IT practice and policies to adopt.
  • Server Administration and Maintenance.
  • Work with the Registrar in the provision of technical capabilities (ICT) needed for the achievement of the Aim and Objectives of the Board.
  • Carryout routine check on all computer system in the Board (Troubleshooting).
  • Installation and Update software (e.g anti-virus, ms-office, printer software, operating etc).
  • Repair of Computer Hardware
  • Setting up new computer systems and accessories.
  • Provides user support for staff in the Board.
  • Collection and processing of data.
  • Network and internet administration.
  • Administration and Maintenance of the Boards Information platforms
  • Website and Portal Administration
  • E-messaging Services and Administration
  • Facebook and twitter administration
  • Production of staff ID-cards
  • Organising virtual meetings (zoom, google meet).

 

ACHIEVEMENTS;

  1. Production of IDs for both new and some old staff
  2. Installation of anti-virus on all systems.
  3. Installation of EHR software for schools
  4. Repairs and Maintenance of pcs and other IT devices.

 

Promotion Exams

  1. Three staff from the IT unit participated in the year 2023 promotion exam conducted in February and they both passed the exams.

Training

  1. No staff was sent for training in the period under review

Goals of IT Unit

  1. To ensure and maintain the security of computer systems in the Board:- Acquisition and installation of anti-virus software packages.
  2. Production of staff id cards.
  3. Making sure that the Boards website is active and informative by regular update.
  4. Being key stake-holders in decision making when and after procuring IT devices in the Board.
  5. To improve departmental output by improving the skills of staff through capacity building.
  6. To ensure optimal use of Boards ICT devices –Through routine servicing and repairs of ICT devices.
  7. To support the Administration in provision of high-end closed circuit television (CCTV).
  8. Improve Internet Service and Security.
  9. Contract a reliable IT firm to Develop and implement HR management software for HRM department.
  10. Purchase of ID Card production machine
  11. Having a centralised UPS and network printer for the Board which can serve all departments.
  12. Advice the Board on outsourcing software when the need arise.

 

Objectives of the Unit

 

Our central objective is to ensure that the Board meet up with the modern trends in digital world. To give maximum support to the Board in attaining its aims in total integration of Board services or in automating her services
