The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria is taking significant steps to enhance the training of Health Information Management Technician Program for grassroots-level manpower.
This was disclosed at the one day training and implementation of the reviewed curriculum for technicians held in Abuja yesterday the 18th of September, 2024 by the Registrar/CEO, Alhaji Babagana Mustapha.
Babagana stated that the goal is to produce competent and skilled professionals who can fill the gaps in health data generation and management at primary healthcare levels.
*Enhanced Training Curriculum*
The Board has reviewed and enhanced its training curriculum for health information management technicians, aligning it with global best practices.
The Registrar said the revised curriculum is divided into three volumes, corresponding to the 100, 200, and 300 levels of the program, to simplify teaching and learning.
*Implementation and Evaluation*
The Board is committed to ensuring the successful implementation and evaluation of the new curriculum. To achieve this, they are calling on stakeholders to support the implementation process.
The immediate past Registrar of the Board, Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim Mami, while speaking, advised the professionals to repackage themselves in line with the current technical knowhow.
*Collaboration and Quality Service Delivery*
The National Hospital has expressed willingness to collaborate with the Board to deliver quality services.
This development is a significant step towards improving healthcare data management in Nigeria, ensuring that professionals are equipped to meet the challenges of the field.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Mamud Raji, ably represented by the Head, Health Information Management Department, Mr. Tera Ayuba commended the Board’s efforts to upgrade the profession in line with current trends and demands.
