The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) recently convened its 2025 Annual Meeting/Retreat for Coordinators of HIM Training Institutions at the Trauma Center, National Hospital, Abuja.
The event brought together stakeholders to strategize on improving Health Information Management (HIM) education and practice.
Alhaji Babagana Mustapha, Registrar/CEO of HRORBN, emphasized that quality health information is crucial for effective healthcare delivery, and students should receive both academic instruction and practical exposure in healthcare facilities.
The Registrar highlighted the need for synergy between regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and healthcare providers to produce technically proficient and operationally aware HIM graduates.
Alhaji Babagana reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and promoting excellence, innovation, and ethical leadership in HIM education.
The retreat provided a platform for stakeholders to review and reinforce their dedication to shaping the next generation of HIM practitioners in Nigeria, discussing key issues such as curriculum development, accreditation, and continuing professional development.
Dr. Kayode Adepoju, Chairman of the occasion, urged HIM professionals to improve themselves, especially in acquiring necessary degrees that will make them excel in their fields.
The retreat was attended by key stakeholders, including Prof. MAT Suleiman, Dr. Jacob Kehinde Opele, Dr. Tajudeen Adebayo, Dr. Benson Oweghoro, Dr. Adio Razaq, amongst others, Top Management Staff, and School Coordinators.
